Alun Cairns (South Wales West): What is the amount of sand that has been taken off the Nash and Helwick Banks individually over the past 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and all other 5 year stages that have been recorded.(WAQ4313)

Sue Essex: Figures provided by the Crown Estate, for the years for which detailed figures exist, indicate that between 1989-1994 inclusive, 6,424,917 tonnes of sand were removed from Nash Bank and 87,570 tonnes from Helwick Bank. For the period 1995-1999 inclusive the figures are 3,479,094 tonnes from Nash Bank (a revised figure for the period), and 439,080 tonnes from Helwick Bank.
