SAND DREDGING IN THE BRISTOL CHANNEL
What fee is payable to the Crown Estate
for each licence to dredge sand in the Bristol Channel and what is the
estimate of the total amount paid to the Crown Estate since 1950?
There is no licence fee payable to the Crown
Estate as such to dredge sand in the Bristol Channel. The Crown Estate
receives a royalty for every tonne of material landed. The net surplus
revenue is paid to the HM Treasury.
Attached is a table, which shows the amount
extracted, the average royalty rate from 1955 and the resulting revenue
until the present. The figures include material taken from Welsh and English
waters.
