Media Release Plaid Cymru the Party of Wales DATGANIAD I'R WASG - PRESS RELEASE
The Nash and Helwick sand banks off the South Wales coast have been commercially dredged for many years. There are numerous allegations that there is a direct link between the dredging and coastal erosion, and the debate has been compounded by an application to extend the licenses. Dr. Dai Lloyd stated, "The Assembly will be spending over £14.5 million every year maintaining an artificial coastal environment in Cardiff Bay. Surely we can afford to fund a relatively cheap survey of our threatened natural coastline?" Dai Lloyd pointed out that Wirral Council had been surveying their coastline for over 45 years, and could give invaluable advice to the Assembly on the most cost effective way of carrying out such a survey.
