ORAL ASSEMBLY QUESTION
TABLED ON 29 MARCH 2000
FOR ANSWER BY THE SECRETARY FOR ENVIRONMENT
ON 12 APRIL 2000

Q27. Alun Cairns (South Wales West): What impact is sand dredging having on the Welsh coastline. (OAQ4762)

Sue Essex: Over the years, substantial changes have occurred along the Welsh coastline, primarily as a result of natural processes.

In those areas where dredging for aggregates is licensed, a raft of rigorous monitoring conditions is put in place to measure any overall changes to the marine and coastal environment.
